ABOUT AMESEA

amesea was created in 2018 by designer and illustrator Amy Clarke.

She creates detailed drawings using Rotring pen and fine liner in a distinctive monochrome style, often utilising dot work to convey details. Hand drawing and an analogue approach to illustration are the core of everything she creates. Amy produces limited edition screen prints of these works by hand.

Drawing on personal experience, she constructs visual metaphors to explore themes of mental health and self-care. Some pieces were created to work through difficult emotions, whereas others serve as reminders to be kind to ourselves in times of need.

Having graduated in Printed Textile Design from the University of Brighton in 2015, Amy moved to Brussels, Belgium where she lived and worked until 2019. It was during this time that she began creating amesea. Missing the physicality of the print room she set up a simple screen-printing studio in her Brussels flat and printed her first collection there. After relocating to the UK, she has moved into a local printmaking studio in Cambridge.

amesea also creates personal commissions for clients in her distinctive style.
